Skyrock

      Farm

In the quiet light of the stable, you hear a muffled snort, a stamp of a hoof, a friendly nicker.

Gentle eyes inquire “How are you old friend?” and suddenly, all your troubles fade away. – Author Unknown

At Skyrock we teach horsemanship. "....to develop the horse's natural athletic ability and willingness to work making him calm, supple and attentive to his rider."
We train and show hunters and jumpers as well as teach English riding lessons to riders of all levels.  Our goal is to culminate compassionate, confident riders with effective aids and relaxed horses.
If riding is your passion, Skyrock is your place.

A day at Camp...

If your child is horse crazy - Skyrock is the place to be!

Our camp is geared towards kids 6 and older.
We teach basic horsemanship which includes horse care, anatomy, horse terminology and of course riding! The camp leaders create an enjoyable and supportive atmosphere that makes each participant feel welcome.

What do I need?
Breeches or Jeans and boots with a heel or sturdy tennis shoes and T-shirt.
A bag or backpack with lunch and snacks and water bottle.  Shorts, sunscreen, and a bathing suite and towel - on hot days we may go for a swim!
Skyrock Farm Supplies:
Safety helmet (if you do not have your own) a horse and all of the tack.

Daily Camp Routine
During the five-day camp, campers are instructed in riding fundamentals.  Campers learn horse care, nutrition, safety and the responsibilities of caring for, riding and owning a horse.

A typical camp day consists of one traditional English riding lesson, a horse related arts and crafts project, bathing the horses with the hose (which is especially great on a hot day)!  Depending on the barn's schedule we may do a field trip to a local horse show and cheer the Skyrock riders on! Very lucky campers may even get to witness a foaling!  Students learn safety while on and off the horse. In addition to a daily riding lesson, the day campers care for their horses hands on by grooming, watering and feeding. Each Skyrock camper learns to halter, lead, groom, saddle and bridle a horse as well as how to bathe and safely graze a horse.
